SUMMARY:ISSPP webinar on Sep. 25th: Advanced data science in peritoneal metastasis
DESCRIPTION:The ongoing personalized medicine revolution drives social and operational impact while improving therapy outcomes and patient satisfaction. Whereas the real-world implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in medical oncology is advancing well\, very few cancer surgery departments have been able to rapidly adopt AI technologies at scale. \nAdvanced data science applications in the field of peritoneal and pleural metastasis are rare. However\, there is pioneer work on modeling drug transport during intraperitoneal chemotherapy\, simulation of aerosol spatial distribution during PIPAC\, computing the extent of peritonectomy during cytoreductive surgery\, detecting early radiological signs of peritoneal metastasis\, generating automatic quality control reports for peritoneal malignancies programs\, and predicting patient outcome.  Moreover\, new options are emerging for complementing or even replacing randomized trials in the field of peritoneal metastasis. \nAgile predictive AI tools can help indicate the right therapy in the right patient at the right time. If reliable\, such AI tools guarantee high-quality health outcomes\, minimize costs\, and increase patients’ quality of life. For the first time\, ISSPP will invite pioneers to present their work in the field of peritoneal metastasis. This disruptive webinar will be chaired by Assoc. Prof. Tarkan Jäger from the Paracelsus Medical University\, Salzburg\, Germany. \nParticipation in the webinar is free\, Registration is required\, for registration please click here. \nFor the scientific program please click here \n

SUMMARY:Peritoneal cancer symposium in Lausanne\, Switzerland\, on Sep 3th\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:Dears colleagues\, dear friends\, \nAfter the long period of lock-down\, it’s time to resume academic activities.  We feel hence an enormous pleasure to welcome you all to Lausanne for the international symposium of the Swiss Peritoneal Cancer Group  (SPCG)\, which is endorsed by the International Society for the Study of Pleura and Peritoneum (ISSPP) ! \nCaring for patients with peritoneal surface malignancies has undergone tremendous changes over the last decade. New treatment options and multimodal approaches helped to improve prognosis and brought hope to patients and their families. The care providers face the challenge to define the optimal treatment sequence in a field where evidence is scarce and discrepant. \nTime to get together again and have open discussions in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere!  The symposium has a clear Swiss accent but also international flair\nfeaturing key opinion leaders from seven different countries. The structure and content of the program should guarantee the active participation of the  audience and stimulating exchange between the different disciplines. \nProf. Martin Hübner and Prof. Nicolas Demartines \nFor more information and registration please click on the link below \nDownload Symposium \nsymposium-lausanne-sep-2021
